About
The Flow Laboratory consists of the Flow and Viscosity Laboratories. It maintains the National Measurement Standards for Flow and Viscosity. Calibration services are offered on a wide range of Flow instrumentation. Details of which can be found under the “How can we help you?” section
Key Facts
Metrological traceability is currently imported from international National Metrology Institutes with Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMCs) published in the BIPM Key Comparison Database (KCDB). The Flow laboratory is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited for volume gas flow rate measurements from 5 mL/min to 50 L/min. The laboratory is equipped with two secondary reference standards; a positive displacement piston prover and a molbloc-L laminar flow element system.
Viscosity Laboratory
The National Measurement Standard for viscosity is a group of Ubbelohde capillary viscometer sets and a group of viscosity oil standards. The Viscosity Laboratory calibrates the kinematic viscosity of liquids and capillary viscometers against the master viscometers and viscosity oil standards. The Viscosity Laboratory can perform viscosity calibrations in the range from 0,4 mm2/s to 70 000 mm2/s. The laboratory is not ISO/IEC 17025 accredited.
How we can help
Flow Laboratory Calibration Services (Volume Gas Flow Rate)
- Mass Flow Meters and Mass Flow Controllers (MFMs and MFCs),
- Bubble Flow Meters,
- Digital Flow meters,
- Dilution Calibrators,
- Rotameters.
Viscosity Laboratory Calibration Services
- Kinematic viscosity of liquids,
- Capillary Viscometers.
Development of National Measurement Standards
Current development work is focussed on the reduction of measurement uncertainties, extension of gas flow calibration ranges, the establishment of a low liquid flow facility
