Temperature Metrology
Standard
The national measurement standard consists of defining fixed points of the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). These are used to calibrate appropriate interpolating thermometers (standard platinum resistance thermometers, noble-metal thermocouples, monochromatic radiation thermometers). The Temperature Laboratory is accredited by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS).
