National Metrology Institute of South Africa
The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) is responsible for maintaining the SI units and to maintain and develop primary scientific standards of physical quantities for SA and compare those standards with other national standards to ensure global measurement equivalence. It must also provide reference analysis in the case of a measurement dispute and maintain and develop primary methods for chemical analysis to certify reference materials for SA and the region.

Results of Insurance Tender: The NMISA has appointed
Glenrand M.I.B as its Insurance Broker.

2. NMISA-10-T0001 - IT Infrastructure Tender
Results of IT Infrastructure Tender: The NMISA has appointed
TENET (Tertiary Education and Research Network of South Africa) as its Internet
Service Provider (ISP).
Background: As a Type 3A Public Entity that reports to the dti,
the NMISA qualifies to be connected to the
SANReN (South African National Research Network)
network.
TENET is the only provider to operate the transmission and
routing infrastructure of the SANReN network, and is responsible for arranging
peering and transit agreements with other research networks and with commercial
ISP's locally and worldwide for the SANReN network.
As part of
our tender the NMISA would prefer to have a "Hosted Exchange Solution" option.
TENET does not provide this service and the NMISA has chosen
Acctech Systems
to provide the necessary infrastructure to host our
E-Mail Exchange Solution.
The NMISA would like to thank all the companies
