The National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) is responsible for the accurate measurements for the country as well as the region at large. The institution also underpins and provides for the international acceptance of local measurements.
As part of the celebrations for 70 years of metrology in South Africa and 10 years of NMISA as an independent institution, NMISA is proud to introduce its inaugural summer school which will zoom into metrology in the South African context in an effort to encourage future experts to join this diverse and enriching field.
- We encourage applications from research students in the field of Science and Engineering.
- The Student must have an interest in Metrology or the science of measurement.
- Students must be proficient in English.
- Professionals are encouraged to attend the course, Engineers, Scientists, metrologist and any other person interested in Metrology.
The metrology summer school has been designed to give a better understanding of the various fields such as Chemistry, Electricity and Magnetism, Ionising Radiation, Physical Metrology, Research and Technical Development as well as Technical Infrastructure Development. The classes will be informative, practical and interactive. Planned social activities will be facilitated to complement the program and ensure that the participants get an opportunity to network with each other and with industry experts.
The students will get an opportunity to visit interesting areas to complement the classes and ensure a balanced learning experience.
Travel and Accommodation
It is the responsibility of the attendees to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. All the students will be housed at accommodation facilities in close proximity to where the classes will be held, a list will be made available during the registration period.
