For nanotechnology, the NMISA can assist with development of methods suitable for the nano scale, validate methods, and calculate uncertainty budgets as well as advice on general science. Most importantly, the NMISA provides the direct link (traceability) to the SI units though the national measurement standards that it maintains. The NMISA’s contribution is support to ensure that any measurement that relates to the application can stands up in any circumstance.
